Comprised of Brent Eyestone (of Bleach Everything, Highness, etc.) and Christopher Royal King (of This Will Destroy You, Symbol, etc.), AUGHRA and MOSH PATROL joined forces in 2007 to issue "Is There Anyone Else Outside?," a split CD on Eyestone's own Magic Bullet Records, which had just released King's band (This Will Destroy You)'s debut album "Young Mountain" the year prior. As both Eyestone and King were constantly on the road and/or in the Austin area together during this era, the project came out of both musicians' love and practice of sonic exploration and learning new technologies toward creating electronic, experimental music that expanded far past the rock-oriented works both were (and are still) known for.
The result is a diverse, yet cohesive program that takes listeners through the deep woods of rural Virginia, throughout various sectors of the Northeast, across the hot plains of central Texas, and even on up into the ether, with all songs taking on geographical characteristics of the spaces in which they were created, edited, and ultimately mixed down in. It remains an enduring piece that encapsulates the spirit of experimentation, collaboration, trust, and communication that comes from a friendship of two creatives who remain close friends to this day.
